South Andros Airport in Congo Town, a small village located in the Bahamas’ South Andros district, sits at an elevation of 4.6 m above sea level. It has a single asphalt runway. Installing solar airfield lighting allowed for medevac operations when required, as well as increased flights to the neighboring island airports. Carmanah’s solar airfield lights, with replaceable battery packs, are designed for 20–25 years of use, including a 100,000-hour lifespan for the LEDs. The lights are designed to operate for 5–10 years without any maintenance.
